John Paul Cooke – Contemporary Artist
Medium: Oil/Acrylic – Subjects: Seascape/Landscape/Abstract
John Paul Cooke – Artist Statement
With an unrestrictive approach I create atmospheric, contemporary landscapes and seascapes. My work is a baring of the soul, with endless skies and moody tonal horizons. Derived from memory and contemplation I create a contemporary view of places I love to visit.
Working in both the Peak District and Cornwall, I spend time gathering visual references to use for my next project. Starting with a blank canvas my thoughts and memories are transferred through the medium of oil into a visual sensation of a time, a place, or a moment.
